Tonight we went to our first movie as a family and saw Toy Story 3 in 3-D. First we tried to see it at the Arclight in Pasadena but it was 12.50 a person, 10.00 for children and children under 3 have to pay for an adult ticket! Crazy, but I get it. If I'm going without kids, that's where I want to be. So we trekked over to Glendale where we payed 11.00 for the 3-D version and didn't have to pay for Pepper at all.
The kids ate hot dogs in the lobby and pretended to drive a video game before we gathered up some booster seats and went in. I'm really glad we went on a Monday. It was really quiet and took the pressure off of us as far as kid behavior was concerned. But the kids were great. Pyrate seemed a bit nervous; worried that the trailers were too long and we wouldn't see the movie and then occasionally mortified that something horrible would befall Woody or Buzz. She has no problem suspending disbelief.
Pepper seemed to have attended the movies a thousand times before. She sat back against the seat, totally relaxed and helping herself to handful after handful of my popcorn. She stayed in her own seat for at least a third of the movie and then moved to my lap, only getting a little squirmy at the end. From time to time she would tell me it was loud and then pat my shoulder as if to comfort me. And of course, when the beginning logo hit the screen she screamed, "Diszey!" Oops, brainwashed.
We all really enjoyed it. Many more movies to come!
